Before we proceed, this is to inform all direct entry (DE) aspirants who wish to apply for direct entry (DE) admission into any of the universities in Nigeria to study Chemistry under the faculty of Sciences that Chemistry direct entry requirements are now available on this page.

Direct Entry (DE) Requirements for Chemistry

Without wasting much time, the direct entry requirements to study Chemistry are:

(i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology.
(ii) ND/NCE with good grades in relevant ‘O’ level subjects.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) RHEMA, OAU, UNILORIN, UNN, OOU, UNIBEN, EKSU and BOWEN do not accept Biology.

(ii) AAU accepts ‘A’ level Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics or Biology.

(iii) ADELEKE and UNILORIN require ‘A’ level passes in Physics and Chemistry. AUE accepts ND (Upper credit) in Science technology (Chemistry option) from recognized polytechnics.

(iv) UNIBADAN, UNN, UNILAG and OAU do not accept ND/NCE

(v) MAUTECH does not accept NCE.

(vi) FUTMINNA accepts lower credit or merit at ND, HND or NCE plus O’ level requirement stated below.

(vii) UNIBEN in addition to UTME requirements, accepts:
a) ND (Upper credit), HND (lower credit) in Polymer Chemistry or Science Laboratory Technology in relevant subjects.
b) NCE (Overall merit) with credit passes in Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics.

(viii) UDUSOK, BAYERO, UNIMAID and LASU accepts NCE with Chemistry major.

(ix) UNILORIN accepts NCE Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.

(x) UNAAB accepts:
a) ND (Upper Credit) in Analytical and Industrial Chemistry,
Science Laboratory Technology or related fields.
b) NCE (Credit) in Biology or Chemistry.
c) Two A’ level credit passes in Chemistry, Biology/Botany/ Zoology, Physics and Mathematics.

(xi) UNIJOS accepts Chemistry and Physics.

(xii) MAUTECH accepts a pass in Biology.

(xiii) UNIPORT, ABSU and IMSU – No Direct Entry.

(xiv) FUTMINNA accepts NCE (credit),ND/HND lower credit in addition to O/L credit passes in Mathematics, Chemistry and two other science subjects.

(xv) UNIUYO accepts ND (upper credit) and HND (lower credit) in relevant field plus UTME requirements.

(xvi) BAYERO accepts ND (upper credit) and NCE relevant subjects with B grades.

(xvii) DELSU and MOUAU require A’ Level passes in Chemistry and Mathematics or Physics.

(xviii) EKSU accepts ND at Upper credit level (xvii) BSU accepts NCE (merit), ND (Upper credit) in relevant fields plus five O’ level credit at a sitting.

(xix) IGBINEDION accepts A’ level in Chemistry plus Physics or Biology, ND in Science Tech. with relevant O’ level requirements.

(xx) AAUA requires ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and also accepts ND Upper Credit in Chemistry or other related Discipline.

(xxi) KUST accepts IJMB, NCE, HND (credit), ND (Upper credit) in Chemistry, Biology, Physics or any relevant subject.

(xxii) AAU accepts NCE with at least merit pass in Chemistry and any other science subject.

(xxiii) AJAYI requires A’ level passes in Biology and Chemistry or NCE in Chemistry and Physics plus UTME requirements.

(xxiv) CRESCENT accepts IJMB at accept able grade levels

(xxv) FUTO requires at least two ‘A’ Level passes not below Grade C in Chemistry and one of Physics and Mathematics. It accepts ND/HND (Upper Credit) in relevant fields. Candidates must in addition meet the UTME ‘O’ Level requirements. It does not accept First Degree and NCE.

(xxvi) UMYU accepts Candidates with ND/HND in Chemistry as major or its equivalent with a minimum of lower credit from a recognized institution. NCE Candidates must have Chemistry as major with any of Physics, Biology, Mathematics or other relevant subject or certificate from a recognized University with a minimum of 9 points.

(xxvii) NCE in Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics plus ‘O’ level credit in Mathematics.

(xxviii) AL-HIKMAH accepts two A’ level passes in Chemistry and any other relevant subject and accepts National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology. (xxviii) BOWEN same as in Biochemistry.

(xxix) WUSTO accepts:
a) Two “A” level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology in that order.
b) Upper Credit passes in ND in addition to 5 Credits at WASC/GCE O’Level / SSCE (or its equivalent).

(xxx) LAUTECH accepts:
a) Two ‘A’ Level Passes in Chemistry Mathematics, Physics or Biology.
b) ND with Upper Credit/ HND in related discipline (plus UTME requirements) may be considered for admission into 200 level.

(xxxi) AUN accepts:
a) ‘A’ level passes chosen from English Language, Mathematics, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Literature in English, Government, History, Economics, Geography, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Visual Arts, Computer Studies, Information Technology, Civics and French.
b) (1) AUN does not accept credit passes in the following; Agriculture, Food and Nutrition, Home Economics, Home Craft, Home management, Physical Education, Physical and Health Education, Music, Commerce, Accounting, Financial Accounting, Book keeping, Islamic History, Religious Studies, Tajweed, Library Studies, Diction, Kiswahili, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Arabic, Turkish, Study skills.

(xxxii) AUN accepts ICGSE and ‘A’ level Cambridge and does not offer admissions direct to 200 level programs. May transfer credits relevant to it’s major at the discretion of the Dean of school.

(xxxiii) FUAM accepts:
a) Holders of UTME requirements plus HSC/GCE `A’ level passes in Chemistry and one other relevant Science subject may be admitted at 200 level of study.
b) HND holders with Upper credit in relevant disciplines who posses UTME requirements may also be admitted to the 200 Level of study.
c) ND holders with Upper Credit in relevant disciplines who
possess UTME requirements may be admitted to 100 Level.
d) NCE holders with at least 2 credit level passes in relevant subjects, which must include Chemistry, and who possesses UTME requirements may be admitted to 200 level.

(xxxiv) WESTERN-DEL accepts:
a) At least two passes at the GCE ‘A’ Level in Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics.
b) ND/HND with at least lower credit pass in relevant Science Laboratory Technology (SLT), or Polymer Chemistry in the relevant subject area from a recognized Polytechnic.
c) NCE with at least a credit pass in Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics from a recognized College of Education. In addition, candidate should have an overall merit pass.

(xxxv) UNN does not accept A’ level Biology.

(xxxvi) TASU:
a) Requires three A’ level passes which must include Chemistry combination.
b) Accepts NCE (merit) and ND/HND (credit) in related fields in addition to UTME requirement.

(xxxvii) GODFREY requires two “A” level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology. ND/NCE with good grade in relevant “O” level subjects.

(xxxviii) KWASU accepts:
a) Two G.C.E. A/L or its equivalent, one of which must be in relevant subject.
b) ND with (minimum Upper Credit) in relevant field.
c) HND (lower credit) in relevant field.
d) NCE Candidate with minimum of Credit passes in relevant subjects may be considered for Direct Entry Admission provided they possess the necessary O’L requirements

(xxxix) CRUTECH accepts:
a) For Chemistry ND (Upper credit) in Science Laboratory Technology, HND (Lower credit) in Food Technology, NCE (merit) in Chemistry and any other Science subject, IJMB (B grade) in Chemistry and any other Science subject.
b) For Biochemistry ND (Upper credit) in Science Laboratory Technology, HND (Lower credit) in Food Technology, NCE (merit) in Chemistry and Biology, IJMB (B grade) in Chemistry and Biology.

(xl) MCPHERSON accepts NCE (merit), HND ((at least lower credit), ND (at least lower credit) in Chemistry, Biology, Physics or any relevant subject.

(xli) CALEB accepts ND at Credit level in Science Laboratory Technology or Sciences related studies may be considered for admission by direct entry provided they have the UME subjects at one sitting.

(xlii) NDU accepts:
a) National Diploma (ND) Upper Credit in Chemistry or any of the Sciences or Applied Sciences, e.g. Engineering, etc or National Certificate of Education (NCE) merit upper credit.
b) Higher National Diploma (HND) in Chemistry and in addition must have five SSCE/GCE or NECO ‘O’ Level credits obtained in not more than two sittings in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(xliii) NTNU accepts any two A’ level passes in Science subjects, ND/HND (lower credit) or NCE (merit) in relevant fields.

(xliv) EBSU accepts HND, NCE and ND with a minimum of Merit and Upper credit respectively in the relevant fields. It accepts only A’ level Chemistry and Mathematics.

(xlv) SOUTHWESTERN accepts:
a) Accepts ‘A’ level Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics or Biology.
b) Merit in ND (Upper credit), HND (lower credit) in Polymer Chemistry or Science Laboratory Technology in relevant subjects.

(xlvi) UNILAG accepts:
a) Very good passes in the following three JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Chemistry, Physics and any one of Mathematics and Biology.
b) Candidates must satisfy O/Level requirements.
