The subjects required to study Microbiology in both WAEC and NECO are as follows:

Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) MADONNA and EBSU accept a pass in Physics with credit in Mathematics.

(ii) IMSU, ANSU, UNIUYO and EBSU accept a pass in English Language.

(iii) UI requires 5 or 6 ‘O’ level credits passes at one or two sittings include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and any one or two of Physics, Geography and Agric Science.

(iv) UNIJOS accepts candidates with pass at the Remedial Science Programme of the University of UNIJos.

(v) UNIUYO requires a credit pass in English Language.

(vi) AJAYI requires five (5) credit passes must include: English Language, mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and one other science subject at one sitting or six (6) credits at not more than two sittings.

(vii) BOWEN does not accept Agric. Science as another Science subject

(viii) FUAM and KWASU –
(a) Candidates seeking admission into any of these Programmes must possess five (5) credit passes which MUST be from one examination body (i.e. either WAEC or NECO) and obtained at NOT more than two (2) sittings. The Department does not accept the combination of both WAEC and NECO. Students of FUAM Pre-degree Remedial Science Programme who pass their end of session examinations are considered or admission on the condition that they also pass UTME.

(b) NOTE: Agricultural Science and Health Science shall NOT be accepted in place of Biology. Further Mathematics shall NOT be accepted in place of Physics or Mathematics.

(ix) RHEMA and JABU accept Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.

(x) UNIOSUN accepts Geography or Economics in lieu of Physics.

(xi) GO, PLSU and UNILAGOS accepts credit pass in any other Science subject in lieu of Physics.

(xii) FUTA requires five o’ level credit passes, which must include English language, Biology or Agricultural Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and Physics at NOT more than two sittings.

(xii) REDEEMER’S requires five ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry Biology and Physics.

(xiv) FUTMINNA requires at least a pass in Physics with Credit pass in any other Science subject.

(xv) KWASU requires credit passes from English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and any two of Biology, Physics, Further Mathematics or Agricultural Science.

(xvi) EVANGEL accepts any other Science subject in lieu of Physics.

(xvii) FED-DUTSE:
(a) For Environmental Science and Toxicology accepts credit pass in Geography in lieu of Physics.
(b) For Microbiology accepts any other Science subject in lieu of Physics.

(xviii) KSUSTA accepts credit pass in Geography or Agricultural Science in lieu of Physics.

(xix) OSUSTECH requires five O’ level credit passes in English language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and any one of Agricultural Science, Physics and Geography.

(xx) CRESCENT requires credit passes in five SSCE/GCE/NECO subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Geography with at least a pass in Physics, Biology and Agric Science.

(xxi) BSU for Microbiology accepts passes in five (5) prescribed subjects in Preliminary Science of BSU in addition to minimum UTME score.

(xxii) UNN requires O’ level credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

(xxiii) UNIBEN for Science Laboratory Technology requires five O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and any two of Biology, Physics, Agricultural Science and Geography, depending on the option chosen by the candidate. Candidates opting for Physic/Electronics, Petrochemical Geology and Physiology/Pharmacology Techniques must have credit in Physics.

The O level (WAEC and NECO)  requirements posted above may only apply to Microbiology under the faculty of Sciences.
