Direct Entry (DE) Requirements for Library and Information Science
Without wasting much time, the direct entry requirements to study Library and Information Science are:
(i) Two A’ level passes in relevant subject plus UTME requirements.
(ii) NCE (merit) in relevant subjects.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) ABU and BUK accept NCE merit provided such candidates have two years working experience.
(ii) UMYU accepts NCE in addition to five credit passes at O/Level or its equivalent.
(iii) UNN accepts D/E candidates who hold one of the following
(a) NCE with at least merit in Library and Information Science or the subject being combined with library and Information Sciences.
(b) Higher School Certificate/GCE Advanced level in at least two subjects, including that to be combined with Library and Information Science.
(iv) UNIOSUN same as in Vocational and Technical Education
(v) UNIBEN accepts:
a. Two (2) passes in relevant subject areas at Advanced Level with SSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level credit passes in three (3) other subjects in not more than two (2) sittings
b. Three (3) passes in relevant subject areas at Advanced level with SSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level credit passes in two (2) other subjects in not more than two (2) sittings
c. At least Merit in two (2) major subjects in relevant areas in the NCE with SSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level Credit or its equivalent in three other subjects.
Note that the above direct entry requirements may only apply to Library and Information Science under the faculty of Education.
