What are the direct entry requirements to study to English Language in the university? If you are interested in knowing the requirements needed for a direct entry (DE) admission into English Language under the faculty of Arts and Humanities then am happy to inform you that this post contains the direct entry requirements from universities in Nigeria that offers English Language.

Before we proceed, this is to inform all direct entry (DE) aspirants who wish to apply for direct entry (DE) admission into any of the universities in Nigeria to study English Language under the faculty of Arts and Humanities that English Language direct entry requirements are now available on this page.

Direct Entry (DE) Requirements for English Language

Without wasting much time, the direct entry requirements to study English Language are:

Two ‘A’ level passes to include Lit.-in-English and one other Arts subject.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNILAG does not accept less than grade D in Literature in English.

(ii) ADELEKE, ANSU, UNILORIN, UNIMAID, UDU and UNIJOS accept NCE with English major.

(iii) PUNIPORT – no direct entry.

(iv) UNIUYO requires minimum of 9 points which may be from two of three GCE ‘A’ level subjects (or the equivalents, such as relevant NCE subjects to be passed at the GCE ‘A’ level) must be English Language and Literature in English.

(v) UNILAG requires Mathematics and the other Arts subject to be chosen from Religious Studies, French, Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa.

(vi) AJAYI accept NCE (Merit) in Literature in English.

(vii) UNILORIN accepts ND/and any Social Science subject.

(viii) AAU accepts National Diploma (at credit level) in Mass Communication.

(ix) NSUK accepts NCE English not below Merit level.

(x) UMYUK accepts NCE in relevant subject in addition to five credits O/Level in not more than two sittings.

(xi) TASU and UNILORIN accept NCE with English Major.

(xii) AJAYI accepts two ‘A’ level passes (or equivalents) in Literature in English, one other Arts subject plus three ‘O’ level credit passes.

(xiii) BIU requires in addition to the O’ level requirements specified, a minimum of two relevant subjects passed at GCE Advanced level or NCE (3 merits) or National Diploma in relevant field not below credit level.

(xiv) UNIOSUN accepts Two ‘A’ level passes to include Literature in English and other Arts subjects or NCE in English/and any other Arts subjects.

(xv) ABU accepts two ‘A’ level papers including English at IJMB/ NCE.General English/Use of English at NCE satisfies’ O’ level English requirement.

(xvi) KWASU accepts NCE with English major.

(xvii) LASU accepts Two ‘A’ level/NCE passes to include Literature in English and one other Arts subject.

(xviii) AL-HIKMAH accepts two A’ level passes to include Literature in English.

(xix) FUD accepts two A’ Level passes to include English and also accepts minimum of nine points.

Note that the above direct entry requirements may only apply to English Language under the faculty of Arts and Humanities.
