JAMB Subject Combination For Education and History
In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Education and History under the Faculty of Education in the institutions listed above are:
History and any other two subjects chosen from CRK, Islamic Studies, Lit. in English, French, Yoruba, Geography/Physics, Economics, Government and Hausa.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNIBEN requires History or Government, one art and any other subject.
(ii) UNILAG accepts any three of Literature in English, History/Government, French, Geography, Mathematics, Yoruba/Igbo, crk/irs, Economics, Commerce.
(iii) LASU does not accept Physics in lieu of Geography.
(iv) TASUED requires History and any other two subjects from Arts and Social Science.
O Level (WAEC and NECO) Requirements For Education and History
In order to study Education and History in the University, you will need to pass the following requirements in your O level result which can either be WAEC or NECO or even both:
Five SSCE credits in English Language, History and any relevant Arts subjects.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) OOU and UNICAL accept General English at NCE in lieu of ‘O’ level credit/TC II merit in English Language. UNICAL accepts only a pass in O/Level Mathematics.
(ii) OAU accepts Music, Fine Arts, but not Government or Economics.
(iii) DELSU accept Government in lieu of History.
(iv) UNILAG requires five O/Level credits in English Language, Mathematics, History/Government and two (2) of Yoruba/Igbo, CRS/IRS, French, Geography, Economics or Literature in English.
(v) UNIBEN requires five O/Level credit passes in History/Government, Fine Arts, Literature-in-English, Religious Knowledge and English Language.
(vi) LASU requires ‘O’ Level Credit passes in Mathematics and Government or History is compulsory.
(vii) ABSU requires Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language, History or Government and any three subjects.
(viii) UMYU requires five O/Level credit passes including English Language, History and any other three Arts subjects with a pass in Mathematics.
(ix) TASUED requires Five ‘O’ level credits at one sitting or six ‘O’ level credits at two sittings to include English Language, History/Government and any other subject from Arts and Social Science.
(x) OAU requires O’ level credit passes in five subjects, must include English Language and History, or TC II merit/credit passes in English Language and Social Studies plus any other three subjects.
(xi) GO requires credit pass in Mathematics.
Direct Entry Requirements For Education and History
To apply for Education and History as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: Two NCE merit/’A’ level passes in History and one other relevant Arts subject.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNILAG requires:
(a) Very good passes in three JUPEB subjects: History and any two (2) of, CRS/IRS, Literature-in English, Igbo, Yoruba, Government, French and Geography.
(b) Two (2) A/Level passes in Government or History.
(c) NCE: History, Social Studies and Political Science.
(d) Candidates must also satisfy O/Level requirement.
(ii) UNIBEN requires:
(a) 2/3 NCE merit passes including History plus 3 2 O/L credit passes including English Language and other subjects from Literature-in-English, Religious Knowledge, Fine Arts, French or Government.
(b) Two A/Level passes in relevant subjects plus 5 O/Level credit passes including History/Government and English Language with others from Literature in-English, Religious Knowledge, French and other Arts subjects.
(iii) UI accepts NCE from UI affiliated Colleges into 300 level.
(iv) LASU accepts NCE (merit) in Government in lieu of History and one other relevant Art subject.
(v) UMYU accepts NCE credit level in the subject of specialization and/or any other subject.
(vi) TASUED accepts:
1. Two ‘A’ level passes/NCE Merit passes in History, Political Science, Social Studies and Christian/ Islamic Religious Studies and any other related subjects.
ND/HND with upper credit Mass Communication/Journalism, Public Administration, Public Relations, Business Studies and Business Administration.
(vii) OAU accepts NCE credit/merit passes in History and one other teaching Art or professional subjects
