JAMB Subject Combination For Physical and Health Education

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Physical and Health Education under the Faculty of Education in the institutions listed above are:

Biology and any two relevant subjects.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) DELSU requires Biology or Health Science.

(ii) EKSU requires Biology/Health Science and any other two subjects.

O Level (WAEC and NECO) Requirements For Physical and Health Education

In order to study Physical and Health Education in the University, you will need to pass the following requirements in your O level result which can either be WAEC or NECO or even both:
Five SSCE credits/TC II merit passes in five subjects including English Language, Biology or its equivalent.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNICAL accept NCE General English in lieu of credit pass at ‘O’ level English.

(ii) OAU (For Physical and Health Education) requires five ‘O’ level credits or TC II merit passes including English Language and any other three Sciences, Social Science or Art Subjects.

(iii) OAU – Biology is not mandatory.

(iv) UI and DELSU require English Language and any three subjects.

(v) UNICAL – No admission through UTME.

(vi) UNIZIK require Mathematics, English, Biology, Health and Physical Educ. or Health Science/Health Education.

(vii) AAU and DELSU require English Language, Biology and at least a pass in Mathematics.

(viii) UI – same as in Human Kinetics.

(ix) ABU require a credit pass in Mathematics.

(x) AAU requires at least a pass in Mathematics

(xi) EKSU requires five credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Health Education and one Science subjects at one sitting.

(xii) DELSU requires at least a pass in Mathematics and two other subjects

(xiii) ABU requires Five ‘O’ level credits/TC II merit passes in five subjects including English Language, Biology, Mathematics and any one Science subject.

(xiv) OAU (For Health Education) requires five ‘O’ level credit or TC II merit passes including English Language, any one of Biology/Health Science/Integrated Science, plus any other three subjects.

(xvi) UNIJOS requires five SSCE credits/TC II merit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and Biology or Health Sciences.

Direct Entry Requirements For Physical and Health Education

To apply for Physical and Health Education as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) Two ‘A’ level passes in any of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

(ii) NCE (merit) in Physical Education and credit in Arithmetical process or Mathematics.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UI accept passes in two major subjects at the NCE/’A’ level with GCE ‘O’ level credits or equivalent in three other subjects in Arts, Social Science and Science.

(ii) DELSU accept ‘A’ level passes, NCE and any three other ‘O’ level or TC II subjects passed at credit/merit level.

(iii) AAU accepts:
(a) NCE in Health Education, Environmental Sanitation, Physical Education, Social Works, Public Administration, Nursing, Public Health Inspectors Certificate from AAU and other recognized institutions.
(b) A credit pass in General English and General Mathematics in NCE is accepted in lieu of ‘O’ level credit in English and Mathematics respectively.

(iv) ESUTECH accepts candidates with minimum of merit passes in four NCE subjects one of which must be Physical Education or pass in NCE/ND for two and three year programme respectively in Physical Education option.

(v) ESUTECH accepts candidates with minimum of merit passes in three NCE subjects.

(vi) UNIZIK accept RN/NRN, Public Health Nursing officers’ Certificate, Advanced Diploma in Health Education, Health Superintendent Certificate and equivalent qualification. (UNIZIK -Nursing only) plus UTME requirements.

(vii) BUK accepts Certificate in Nursing.

(viii) UNIZIK requires Credit in English Language and Biology or Food and Nutrition for both UTME and DE candidates.

(ix) LASU accepts NCE Physical Education at merit level and TC II in Arithmetic process/ Mathematics. Does not accept ND or HND.

(x) EKSU accepts two ‘A’ level/NCE passes in Biology and either Health Education or Integrated Science plus UTME requirement.

(xi) OAU (For Physical and Health Education) accepts two ‘A’ Level credit passes which could be from any subject area. NCE in Physical and Health Education plus U.M.T.E. requirements. Certificate in Nursing (RN) Health Education Community/Public Health/Hygiene is acceptable as equivalent of A level NCE in Primary Education Studies and any other teaching subject is also acceptable

(xii) BUK accepts NCE in PHE not below Merit passes. Also accepts Certificate in Nursing.

(xiii) OAU (For Health Education) accepts two NCE or A/ Level Credit/Merit including Biology or Health Education and any other subject UME requirements Certificate/ Nursing (RN)/Health, Education/Health Science/Community/Public Health/Hyiegene is acceptable as equivalent of A level.

(xiv) UNIJOS accepts:
(a) Two or more ‘A’ level /IJMB pass in which must include Biology or Zoology.
(b) NCE (merit) in Physical and Health Education.
(c) ND (credit) in Physical and Health Education.
(d) at least pass in a three-year Health Education, Health Technology, Nursing, Public Health or an equivalent health programme from a recognised institution in addition to the O’ level requirements.
