Direct Entry (DE) Requirements for Dentistry and Dental Surgery

Without wasting much time, the direct entry requirements to study Dentistry and Dental Surgery are:

Three ‘A’ level passes include Chemistry, Biology/Zoology and Physics.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNN requires:
a) Direct entry candidates in addition to satisfying the UTME requirements should also have 3 Advanced Level papers in Biology or Zoology, Chemistry and Physics in London GCE in one sitting.
b) The Faculty accepts B.Sc degree in related field of study for admission into the Five year standard programme.
c) Holders of MBBS may be admitted into the three year clinical course in Dentistry.

(ii) DELSU accepts B.Sc. Degree First Class/Second Class Upper in Medical related fields. Also accepts Three ‘A’ level papers.

(iii) UNIPORT – No Direct Entry.

(iv) UNIBEN accepts B.Sc Biochemistry (Second Class Lower) Microbiology, Zoology, Botany, Anatomy, Physiology, Nursing, B.Sc or OD Optometry, B.Pham or Doctor of Pharmacy.

(v) OAU accepts B.Sc. with minimum of Second Class Honours in relevant discipline (Sciences).

(vi) UNIJOS accepts passes in IJMB, GCE Advanced Level or Higher School Certificate (HSC) all in Physics, Chemistry and Zoology or Biology. Such candidates must also have obtained five credits at Ordinary level in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Zoology, English Language and Mathematics.

(vii) UNILAG accepts:
a) B.Sc. Degree First Class/Second Class Upper in Medical related fields or two ‘A’ level passes to include Chemistry, Biology/Zoology or Physics.
b) very good passes in three JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and also accept B.Sc. Degree First Class/Second Class Upper in fields such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry Physiotherapy, Ophthalmology, Pharmacology, Radiography, Microbiology, Pharmacy, Zoology, Cell Biology and Genetics, Medical Lab. Science, Nursing.
