JAMB Subject Combination For Special Education
In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Special Education under the Faculty of Education in the institutions listed above are:

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) KWASU requires Mathematics plus other two (2)Science or Social Science subjects.
O Level (WAEC and NECO) Requirements For Special Education
In order to study Special Education in the University, you will need to pass the following requirements in your O level result which can either be WAEC or NECO or even both:
Five SSCE credit passes including English Language.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNIJOS requires five ‘O’ level credits including English Language and Mathematics. TC II Merit Pass in English and NCE General English are taken as equivalent of ‘O’ level credit in English. Candidates without credit in ordinary level Mathematics may be admitted but must either register and pass remedial Mathematics or pass Mathematics at credit level before graduation
(ii) UI – requires 5 ‘O’ level credits at one sitting including English Language and others from Arts, Social Sciences and Sciences.
(iii) KWASU requires credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, any one of Health Science, Biology, Chemistry or Physics, Plus two of Geography, Economics or Government.
Direct Entry Requirements For Special Education
To apply for Special Education as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects.
(ii) NCE merit level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNICAL accept three year programme for candidates with NCE in Special Education/Physical and Health Education.
(ii) UI – insists on teaching subjects offered at University of Ibadan
(iii) UNIJOS accepts ‘A’ level passes at principal level, two NCE passes at merit level, IJMB passes at principal level, all in the relevant subjects and candidates must also meet SSCE requirement. Jos accepts NCE General English (Language and Communication skills) as equivalent of ‘O’ level credit in English Language for Education Courses only.
(iv) KWASU accepts:
a) NCE or A ‘Level certificate, plus At Least FIVE Credits in O’ Level including English Language, and any FOUR of the following subjects: Health Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography and Economics, at one or two sittings.
b) At least a PASS is required for Inclusive Education programme.
c) No direct Entry Admission for 2013/2014.
