JAMB Subject Combination For Optometry
In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Optometry under the Faculty of Sciences in the institutions listed above are:
Physics, Chemistry and Biology
O Level (WAEC and NECO) Requirements For Optometry
In order to study Optometry in the University, you will need to pass the following requirements in your O level result which can either be WAEC or NECO or even both:
Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Direct Entry Requirements For Optometry
To apply for Optometry as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) At least two ‘A’ level passes (G.C.E or H.S.C) in Chemistry and any one of Biology, Zoology or Physics.
(ii) Distinction level pass in National Diploma (ND) from a recognised Polytechnic or College of Technology in Science Laboratory Technology (SLT).
(v) Distinction level pass in Higher National Diploma (HND) from a recognised Polytechnic or College of Technology in Polymer Chemistry and Science Laboratory Technology (SLT)
(v) Distinction level pass in Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) from a recognised College of Education in Chemistry. In addition candidates should have at least an overall Credit level pass
