JAMB Subject Combination For Education and French
In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Education and French under the Faculty of Education in the institutions listed above are:
French Plus two other Arts subjects.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) DELSU and UNIBEN accepts Literature in English and two other Arts or Social Science subjects.
(ii) UNILAG accepts any three of Literature in English, History/Government, French, Geography, Mathematics, Yoruba/Igbo, CRS/IRS, Economics, Commerce and Arabic.
(iii) IAUED French is not compulsory.
O Level (WAEC and NECO) Requirements For Education and French
In order to study Education and French in the University, you will need to pass the following requirements in your O level result which can either be WAEC or NECO or even both:
Five SSCE credits to include English Language and French.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) BUK, UNIBEN, OAU, UNILORIN, EKSU, UNIZIK and LASU, accepts TC II merits in five subjects.
(ii) UNIBEN requires other subjects chosen from History/Government, Fine Arts, Religious Knowledge, Literature-in-English plus English Language.
(iii) UNIZIK accepts any three Arts or Social Science subjects
(iv) ABSU requires credit in English Language and Mathematics.
(v) UNIPORT and DELSU require a credit pass in Literature in English
(vi) DELSU requires Literature in English Language.
(vii) TASUED requires five ‘O’ level credits at one sit ting or six ‘O’ level credits at two sittings to include English and any other Arts or Social Science subjects.
(viii) UNICAL requires at least a pass in O/L Mathematics.
(ix) ABSU requires Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language, French and any three subjects.
(x) OAU requires ‘0’ Level or TC credit/merit passes in five subjects including English Language and French.
(xi) IAUED requires five O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and any other three Arts or Social Science subjects.
(xii) LASU requires credit pass in Mathematics.
(xiii) UNILAG requires five credit passes including English, Mathematics and any 3 of French, Literature in English, Yoruba, Igbo, History or Government, Geography, Economics, CRS, IRS and Arabic
Direct Entry Requirements For Education and French
To apply for Education and French as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: Two ‘A’ level passes/NCE merit in French and one other Arts subject.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UDUSOK accept National Diploma plus four ‘O’ level credits and admits NCE holders to year III.
(ii) UNICAL accepts NCE General English in lieu of credit pass in ‘O’ level English Language.
(iii) UNIBEN requires:
(a) 2/3 O/L (credit passes) including English Language and others from Lit-in-English, Religious knowledge, Fine Arts, French, History/ Government plus 3/2 NCE merit passes including French.
(b) 2 A/Level passes in relevant subjects plus UTME requirements.
(iv) UMYU requires five credit passes in English Language, French and any other three Arts subjects with a pass in Mathematics.
(v) TASUED accepts Two ‘A’ level passes/NCE Merit in French and any other subject in Arts and Social Science subjects or the equivalent of ‘A’ level Diploma certificate in French.
(vi) OAU accepts two ‘A’ level credit passes must include French and one other Arts or Professional subject. Candidates with A/Level French (Double Major or combined) or NCE French (double major) are eligible for admission with or without O/Level French
(vii) UNILAG accepts;
(a) Very good passes in three JUPEB subjects: French and any two (2) of Lit-in English, Yoruba, CRS, IRS, Igbo, Government and History.
(b) Two (2) A/Level passes in French and any other subject in Arts.
(c ) NCE: French and any other two (2) Arts subjects
(d) Nigeria French Language Village Diploma/Modules I-III
(e) Candidate must satisfy O/Level requirements
