JAMB Subject Combination For Petroleum Engineering
In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Petroleum Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in the institutions listed above are:
Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics
O Level (WAEC and NECO) Requirements For Petroleum Engineering
In order to study Petroleum Engineering in the University, you will need to pass the following requirements in your O level result which can either be WAEC or NECO or even both:
five SSCE credits to include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and any one Science subject.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) FUTO and UI accept ND/HND at upper credit level.
(ii) UI accepts 2 ‘A’ level passes in Physics and
Mathematics plus UTME requirements. Accepts also
ND/HND at upper credit level {65%} accepted to 200/300 Upper levels respectively plus UTME requirements. Knowledge of Further Mathematics is an advantage for all Engineering Courses.
(iii) OSUSTECH requires a credit pass in Further Mathematics.
(iv) NDU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other subject in not more than two sittings
Direct Entry Requirements For Petroleum Engineering
To apply for Petroleum Engineering as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: ‘A’ level passes to include Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) OSUSTECH accepts first degree from a recognized University in the relevant subjects not below Second Class Lower.
(ii) ABUAD accepts HND (Lower Credit) and ND (upper Credit) in addition to UTME requirements into 200 level.
(iii) FUTO requires at least three ‘A’ level passes not below Grade C in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. It also accepts ND/HND at Upper Credit level in Engineering in addition to ‘O’ Level requirements. It does not accept First Degree or NCE.
(iv) UNIBEN – in addition to UTME requirements requires:
(a) First Degree Second Class Lower in the Sciences or Agric; Degree in Medicine, Dentistry or Pharmacy and PTI HND(Lower Credit)/ND (Upper Credit).
(b) HND(Upper credit) in Engineering/Technology and PTI HND(Upper credit) into 300 levels.
(c) ND/HND holders should have ‘A’ grade in Mathematics.
(v) UNIBEN accept HND (lower credit) and ND (upper credit) plus UTME requirements.
(vi) UNIUYO accepts ND/HND in relevant areas plus UTME requirements.
(vii) RSUST as in Computer Engineering.
(viii) IGBINEDION accepts two ‘A’ level credits to include Physics plus one of Mathematics and Chemistry. Also accepts ND in Engineering related fields
(ix) BAUCHI accepts ND/HND in related Engineering fields with UTME requirements.
(x) NTNU accepts any two A’ level passes in Science subjects, ND/HND (lower credit) or NCE (merit) in relevant fields.
(xi) FUTO requires at least three ‘A’ level passes not below Grade C in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. It also requires ND/HND at Upper Credit level in Engineering in addition to ‘O’ Level requirements. It does not accept First Degree or NCE.
