JAMB Subject Combination For Mechanical Engineering

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Mechanical Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in the institutions listed above are:

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

O Level (WAEC and NECO) Requirements For Mechanical Engineering

In order to study Mechanical Engineering in the University, you will need to pass the following requirements in your O level result which can either be WAEC or NECO or even both:
Five SSCE credit passes to include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and any other Science subject.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) FUAM accepts a pass in English Language.

(ii) FUTO accepts any other Science subjects as the fifth subject and not more than two sittings.

(iii)FUNAAB requires five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

(iv) NDU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other subject in not more than two sittings.

(v) UNIJOS, OSUSTECH and UNILAG require a credit pass in Further Mathematics.

(vi) ESUTECH requires credit pass in English Language and other relevant subjects.

(vii) BELLS require five SSCE Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and any other Science subject.

(viii) LASU as for two sittings, requires six credit passes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English Language, one Science subject and any other subject.

(ix) UI accept ND/HND at upper credit level.

(x) UI accepts 2 ‘A’ level passes in Physics and
Mathematics plus UTME requirements. Accepts also
ND/HND at upper credit level {65%} accepted to 200/300 Upper levels respectively plus UTME requirements. Knowledge of Further Mathematics is an advantage for all Engineering Courses.

(xi) FED-OYEEKITI requires five Credit Passes in SSCE (or its equivalent) including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and one Science or Social Science subject.

(xii) FUNAAB requires credit pass in Biology.

(xiii) UNN requires five O’ level credit passes to include, Physics, Chemistry Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.

Direct Entry Requirements For Mechanical Engineering

To apply for Mechanical Engineering as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) Two ‘A’ level passes from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
(ii) ND upper credit, NCE technical and HND in Mech. Engineering.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) RSUST accept ND (upper credit), HND (lower credit) in relevant areas plus UTME requirements.

(ii) FUAM requires five credits passes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any two of English Language, Biology or Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Geography and Economics. Also candidates with NABTEB Federal Craft Certificate or WAEC (Technical) Credit passes in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, may be admitted at 100 Level if they meet other admission requirements. All candidates must have obtained at least a pass in English Language.

(iii) OAU, BAYERO and FUTA – do not accept NCE (Technical).

(iv) UNIUYO accepts ND /HND in relevant fields plus UTME requirements.

(v) MOUA and LAUTECH accept ND/HND upper credit level into 200 and 300 level respectively.

(vi) FUTO requires at least two ‘A’ Level passes not below Grade C in any of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. It also accepts ND/HND (Upper Credit) in relevant fields into 200 or 300 levels respectively. Candidates must in addition meet UTME ‘O’ Level requirements. It does not accept First Degree or NCE.

(vii) FUTMINNA accepts ND/HND lower credits in relevant courses.

(viii) ANSU accept ND/HND(lower credit) in Mech. Eng. and at least a pass in English Language.

(ix) MAUTECH accepts:
(a) GCE `A’ level passes in the relevant subjects with at least three credits passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
(b) ND/HND with a minimum of lower credit in relevant Course

(x) OOU accepts ND/HND in relevant field.

(xi) CARITAS, UNIPORT and NDU – No Direct Entry.

(xii) FUTA accepts GCE ‘A’ level passes at one sitting in at least two of the following subjects, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics in addition to the ‘O’ level requirement

(xiii) ESUTECH does not accept lower credit for Direct Entry

(xiv) UNILAG accepts
(a) ND (Distinction) in Mechanical Engineering.
(b) LAGOS does not accept NCE (Technical).
(c) Very good passes in three (3) JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry.

(xv) FUTA accepts ND at Upper Credit level or
other professional qualification in the relevant discipline in addition to the O’ level requirements or GCE ‘A’ level passes at one sitting in at least two of the following subjects, Chemistry, Physics and Math in addition to the ‘O’ level requirements.

(xvi) OAU admits ND/HND in Mechanical Engineering (Upper Credit) to Part II and III appropriately

(xvii) ABU accepts:
(a) Two ‘A’ level/IJAMB passes from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
(b) ND upper credit, NCE technical and HND Lower Credit in Mech. Engineering.

(xviii) BELLS accepts
(a) Two A’ Level passes in Mathematics, Physics / Chemistry.
(b) ND/HND (Upper Credit respectively) in Mechanical Engineering.

(xix) UI accepts 2 ‘A’ level passes in Physics and
Mathematics plus UTME requirements. Accepts also
ND/HND at upper credit level {65%} accepted to 200/300 Upper levels respectively plus UTME requirements. Knowledge of Further Mathematics is an advantage for all Engineering Courses.

(xx) LASU accepts:
(a) ND (Distinction) or HND (Upper credit) into 200 level.
(b) HND (Distinction) into 300 level.

(xxi) RSUST and ABUAD accept ND (upper credit), HND (lower credit) in relevant areas plus UTME requirements.

(xxii) FUNAAB accepts GCE `A’ Level credit passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or equivalent. FUNAAB accepts ND (Upper Credit) in Mechanical Engineering or relevant disciplines.

(xxiii) NDA requires the other Science subject from Technical Drawing, Further Mathematics, Biology and Geography.

(xxiv) LAUTECH accepts Agric. Science in lieu of Biology.

(xxv) UNN – UNN accepts:
(a) HND/ND/NCE in relevant fields
(b) Complete pass in Intermediate ICAN examination or equivalents`
(c) Pass in final exams of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries.

(xxvi) UNIJOS requires two A’ passes in Mathematics and Physics. It also accepts ND (credit) in Mechanical Engineering in addition to O’ level credit in Mathematics.

(xxvii) UNIABUJA accepts HND (Lower Credit) or ND (Upper Credit) in Mechanical Engineering from Accredited Institutions plus UTME requirements into 200 level.
