JAMB Subject Combination For Creative Arts
In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Creative Arts under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in the institutions listed above are:
Fine Art and two other Arts subjects or Social Science subject.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNILAG accepts any one of Fine Art, Literature in English, Music, one additional Arts subject plus any related subject.
(ii) UNIPORT accepts any three subjects.
O Level (WAEC and NECO) Requirements For Creative Arts
In order to study Creative Arts in the University, you will need to pass the following requirements in your O level result which can either be WAEC or NECO or even both:
Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language and Fine Art.
For holders of NTC, the relevant subjects could be General Wood work, Building/Engineering Drawing, Introduction to Building Construction; Decorative Painting; Spray Painting, Linig, Sign and Design; Wall hanging, Colour Mixing/Matching and Glazing; Printing Origination; Machine Printing and Finishing; General Metal Work, Basic Electricity, Spinning, Weaving, Surface Design and Printing; Bleaching, Dyeing and Finishing; Graphic Design; Graphic
For holders of NTC, the relevant subjects could be General Wood work, Building/Engineering Drawing, Introduction to Building Construction; Decorative Painting; Spray Painting, Linig,Sign and Design; Wall hanging, Colour Mixing/Matching and Glazing; Printing Origination; Machine Printing and Finishing; General Metal Work, Basic Electricity, Spinning, Weaving, Surface Design and Printing; Bleaching, Dyeing and Finishing; Graphic Design; Graphic Printing and Ceramics.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNILAG requires Mathematics and any of Music, Fine Art or Literature-in-English and two other related subjects one of which must be an Arts subject.
(ii) UNIPORT requires three subjects from Literature in English, CRK/IRK, Economics, Maths/Biology/Agric. Sc., a Nigerian Language, History/Government and geography.
(iii) UNN requires five credits pass to include English Language Fine and Applied Arts and one Science subject. Candidates who possess NABTEB/NTC must have 5 credit passes which must include English language, Technical drawing, Painting and decorating and a science subject.
Direct Entry Requirements For Creative Arts
To apply for Creative Arts as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Art or Fine Art and any other subject.
(ii) ND (Upper Credit) HND (Lower credit) from recognised institutions.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNIMAID accepts NCE with Fine/Creative Art (Major)
(ii) UNN requires:
(a) Three GCE A’ level passes in Fine Arts or Technical Drawing plus UTME requirements.
(b) HND holders with an average of B grade with UTME requirement into 300 level.
(c) ND/NCE at merit level with UTME requirements.
(d) Candidates would be interviewed.
(iii) UNILAG accepts HND/ND at distinction level in Drama/Theatre and Music.
