The general public are hereby informed that UNILORIN business school form for admission into the school of postgraduate programmes for 2018/2019 academic session has been released by the management of the University of Ilorin.

Authorities of the Ilorin Business School (IBS), University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into their various Professional Postgraduate programmes for the 2018/2019 academic session.

General Information

The academic session of Ilorin Business School for Professional Postgraduate programmes is 12 calendar months, commencing on 2nd October and ending on 30th September of the following year. The 12 calendar months start to count automatically from the date of first registration. Applicants are to note that programmes automatically lapse at the expiration of the prescribed maximum duration for each programme. However, a candidate may apply for an extension, subject to Postgraduate School regulations.

General Requirements

  1. All Certificates shall be available at the point of purchasing the application form, including the National Youth Service Corps DISCHARGE CERTIFICATE OR EXEMPTION CERTIFICATE.
  2. Candidates are expected to submit their application forms online together with the scanned copies of their credentials.
  3. All supporting documents in (i) above and the hard copy of the application form should be forwarded to the Secretary, Ilorin Business School, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria not later than 22nd September, 2018. The submission of Transcripts of Academic Records must reach the Secretary, Ilorin Business School under confidential cover not later than 19th October, 2018. The School will not be held liable for any misdirected transcript, please.
  4. All candidates must have 5 O/L Credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics.

UNILORIN Business School Professional Postgraduate Courses & Duration.

  1. Master of Business Administration (MBA Executive).
  2. Master of Business Administration (MBA Regular).
  3. Master of Geographic Information Systems (MGIS).
  4. Master in Industrial and Labour Relations. (MILR)
  5. Master of Public Administration (MPA).
  6. Master of Health Planning and Management (MHPM).
  7. Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Management (PGDSM).
  8. Master in Information Technology (MIT)

Master of Business Administration (MBA) Executive: The duration of the programme shall normally be a minimum period of 36 months and a maximum period of 60 months. This is a weekend programme. The available areas of specialization include: Accounting, Marketing, Personnel Management, Finance, General Management and Operations Management.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) Regular: The duration of the Programme shall normally be for a minimum period of 24 calendar months and a maximum period of 36 calendar months. Areas of specialization include: Accounting, Marketing, Personnel Management, Finance, General Management and Operations Management.

Master of Geographic Information Systems (MGIS): The duration of the programme shall normally be for a minimum period of 18 calendar months and a maximum period of 24 calendar months. This Programme is available on Full-Time basis ONLY.

Master in Industrial and Labour Relations (MILR): The duration of the programme shall normally be for a minimum period of 18 calendar months and a maximum period of 24 calendar months. Areas of specialization include: Labour Management Relations, Personnel and Human Resources Management; Industrial Conflict and Dispute Resolution; and Labour Law. This programme is available as evening 4-7 p.m. mode ONLY, Saturday inclusive.

Master of Public Administration (MPA): The duration of the programme shall normally be for a minimum period of 18 calendar months and a maximum period of 24 calendar months. Areas of specialization include: Public Finance, Budgeting, Personnel Management, Public Policy and Development Administration. This programme is available as evening 4-7 p.m. mode ONLY, Saturday inclusive.

Master of Health Planning and Management (MHPM): The duration of the programme shall be a minimum of 18 calendar months and maximum of 24 calendar months.

Master in Information Technology (MIT) Regular: The duration of the programme shall normally be for a minimum period of 18 calendar months and a maximum period of 24 calendar months.

Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Management (PGDSM): The duration of the programme shall normally be a minimum of 12 calendar months and a maximum of 18 calendar months. This programme is available on Full-Time basis ONLY.

UNIlorin Business School Professional Programmes Admission Eligibility.

Master of Business Administration (MBA): Candidates for admission into the MBA Programme shall normally possess Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University, with a minimum of Second Class Honours (Lower Division). Holders of professional qualifications such as ACA, ACMA, AIB, ACIS, CIBN, ACTS or HND (Upper Credit) must possess a postgraduate Diploma Certificate in Strategic Management from the University of Ilorin with a Minimum average weighted score of 60%.

Master of Geographic Information Systems (MGIS): Candidates for admission into the MGIS Programme shall normally possess Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University, with a minimum of Second Class Honours (Lower Division). Holders of professional qualifications such as HND (Upper Credit) with a minimum of five (5) years post-qualification experience are also eligible to apply.

Master in Industrial and Labour Relations (MILR): Candidates for admission into the MILR degree Programme shall normally possess an honours degree with a minimum of Third Class Honours of the University of Ilorin, or from any other recognized University.

Master of Public Administration (MPA): Candidates for admission into the MPA degree Programme shall normally possess a minimum of Third Class Honours in any discipline from the University of Ilorin, or any other recognized University.

Master of Health Planning and Management (MHPM): A candidate to be admitted shall:

(a) Hold an honours first degree in Health Planning and Management, or related field; Or have an honours degree in a discipline other than Health Planning and Management, plus at least 3 years experience in Health Planning, Research and Statistics or other relevant Departments after graduation; Or hold an honours first degree in other disciplines, but must in addition, possess postgraduate certificate or Diploma in Health Planning and Management or related fields from recognized Institutions; OR a pass degree in Health Planning and Management or related discipline, plus 3 years experience OR any other qualification approved by the Senate of the University.

(b) A minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division in any of the above.

Master in Information Technology (MIT) Regular: Candidates applying for this programme must possess any of the following:

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computer Science, Information Technology or any related field, with a minimum of Second Class Honours (Lower Division) or Lower Credit grade, or
  2. A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or any related field, with a Third Class and a minimum of 1 year IT-related working experience, or
  3. A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of Second Class Honour (Lower Division) or its equivalent in any field of study with a minimum of 3 years IT-related working experience which may involve planning, development, operation and maintenance of Information Systems, or
  4. A Bachelor’s Degree with a Third Class Honours in any field of study with a minimum of 5 years IT-related working experience which may involve planning, development, operation and maintenance of Information Systems.

Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Management (PGDSM): Candidates for admission into the PGDSM shall normally possess a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Third Class Honours or professional qualification such as ICAN or HND certificate with a minimum of Lower Credit from recognized Institutions.

NOTE: Please note that at least Credit passes in Mathematics and English at “O” Level are required to qualify for admission into our programmes.

Application Fees: Application fee for each programme is N25,000.00 only.

Application Forms are to be completed online and will close on 21st September, 2018. Note that the latest date for receipt of supporting documents (except transcripts) is 22nd September, 2018. Successful applicants would be notified either by e-mail or by applicants personally checking the admission status icon of the School Portal.

Qualifying Examination and Date: All applicants for the Postgraduate Diploma and Masters Degree Programmes will be subjected to a written assessment (qualifying examination) irrespective of the class of degree obtained. The qualifying examination will be held at the Ilorin Business School, (beside the Student Union Building) University of Ilorin on Saturday 22nd September, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. There will be no formal letters of invitation to candidates for the Qualifying Examination as this advertisement will serve as the invitation.
