JAMB Subject Combination For Technical Education
In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Technical Education under the Faculty of Education in the institutions listed above are:
Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNIBEN requires any Science subject in lieu of Chemistry.
(ii) UNILAGOS requires Mathematics, Physics/Technical Drawing, and any other science/technical subjects.
(iii) TASUED requires English Language, Mathematics and any two Science subjects.
(iv) IAUED accepts Physics and any one Science subject or Geography, Economics or Technical Drawing.
(v) UNIZIK accepts Mathematics, Physics and any other subject.
O Level (WAEC and NECO) Requirements For Technical Education
In order to study Technical Education in the University, you will need to pass the following requirements in your O level result which can either be WAEC or NECO or even both:
Five SSCE credits in relevant subjects which must include English Language and Mathematics or NTC/NBC.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) ESUTECH and MAUTECH accept TC II.
(ii) RSUST requires a credit pass in Physics.
(iii) ESUTECH requires candidate to have credit in the subject area of his option. Also candidate’s UTME subjects must include subject area of his option.
(iv) UNIZIK accepts a pass in ‘O’ level English Language.
(v) IAUED requires credit passes in Technical Drawing and Physics. Accepts WAEC Technical, City and Guilds and Federal Craft Training Certificate.
(vi) RSUST accepts NCE General English and Basic Mathematics in lieu of O’ level credits in English Language and Mathematics.
(vii) UNIBENN requires Mathematics and other subjects chosen from Physics, Chemistry, Applied Electricity, Technical Drawing, Woodwork and Basic Electronics.
(viii) UNIUYO requires credit pass in English Language and Chemistry.
(ix) DELSU requires five O’ Level credit passes including English Language, Physics and a pass Mathematics. C and G with relevant O/L qualification may be an advantage.
(x) TASUED requires Five ‘O’ level credits at one sitting or six ‘O’ level credits at two sit-tings in relevant subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics and any two subjects from physics, chemistry, Technical Drawing, Applied Electricity, Woodwork, Basic Electronics, metal work and auto mechanics or NTC/NBC subjects
(xi) UDUSOK requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any two Science subjects.
(xii) UNILAG also requires credit passes in Physics/Technical Drawing and any other science/technical subjects.
Direct Entry Requirements For Technical Education
To apply for Technical Education as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) NCE with two merit in relevant Science subjects plus UTME requirements.
(ii) Two ‘A’ level passes from Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNIUYO accepts ND (upper credit) and HND (lower credit) in relevant field. or its equivalent in Science or Engineering.
(ii) DELSU accepts Advanced City and Guilds Certificate in Engineering and a pass in O’ level English Language.
(iii) MAUTECH accepts NCE (Tech/Science) with merit in relevant subjects plus UTME requirements.
(iv) RSUST accept the following qualifications into year II programme if they satisfy UTME requirements:
(a) NCE (Technical/Science)
(b) Associate Degree in Science or Technology.
(c) ND/HND in Science Engineering.
(d) City and Guilds Full Technological Certificate. NCE Technical Education, Advanced Technical Certificate with three related O’ level subjects, ND in Technical Courses.
(v) IAUED MAUTECH and DELSU accept any of the following qualifications into 200 level if they satisfy UTME requirements.
(a) ND/HND in Science or Engineering;
(b) City and Guilds Full Technological Certificate.
(vi) UNIBEN accepts C and G(final) or Engineering Technicians Certificate (Part II), plus three ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at one sitting.
(vii) ESUTECH accepts merit in 4 NCE subjects into 300 level.
(viii) UNIBEN:
(a) requires 2/3 merit passes (NCE) including Technical Education plus 3/2 ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at one sitting.
(b) accepts Advanced National Teachers’ Certificate in relevant fields plus five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language.
(c) Two NCE merit passes in Physics/ Chemistry, Chemistry/Mathematics or Physics / Mathematics plus three ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at one sitting.
(ix) UNILAG accepts:
(a) Very good passes in three JUPEB subjects; Physics/ Technical Drawing and any other two (2) Science subjects.
(b) NABTEB/NTC Advanced
(c) London City and Guild of London Advanced.
(d) WAEC Technical Advanced
(e) NCE with credit/merit in Technical/Technology Education, Building/ Woodwork, Electrical/ Electronics, Mechanical/Auto Mechanical and any other relevant Technical course in addition to O/Level requirements.
(x) MAUTECH accepts NCE with merit in relevant subjects. Also accepts Lower credit in `A’ level related and relevant fields.
(xi) TASUED accepts NCE with at least Merit in two relevant Science subjects plus UTME requirement or ND/HND with upper credit in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/ Electronics or Building Technology.
(xii) UDUSOK – Same as Vocational and Technical Education.
