JAMB Subject Combination For Business Education

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Business Education under the Faculty of Education in the institutions listed above are:

Mathematics, Economics plus one of Literature in English, History, Government, Geography, Chemistry and Physics.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) DELSU accepts any three subjects

(ii) TASUED and UNIBEN require Mathematics, Economics and any other subject in Arts or Social Sciences.

(iii) UNILAG requires one (1) other subject from Accounting, Computer Studies, Government, Geography, Commerce and Business Management.

(iv) BASU accepts Mathematics, Economics and any other subject.

(v) KWASU accepts English, Mathematics plus any other 2 Social Science subjects.

(vi) UNN requires Mathematics, Economics, plus one of Commerce, History, Government, Geography,Chemistry and Physics.

(vii) OOU requires Economics or Commerce and any two other Arts or Social Science subjects.

O Level (WAEC and NECO) Requirements For Business Education

In order to study Business Education in the University, you will need to pass the following requirements in your O level result which can either be WAEC or NECO or even both:
Five TC II merit, SSCE or NTC/NBC credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other subjects in the Social Science or Arts. For NBC holders, the other subjects could be from any of the following: Commerce, office Practice, Principles of Accounts, Secretarial Duties, Typewriting and Shorthand.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) EBSU and UNIZIK accept credit in RSA Business Studies stage II.

(ii) EBSU accepts ‘O’ level/RSA Business Stage II in 5 relevant subjects.

(iii) RSUST requires Bus Mgt, accounting, typewriting, Government or Commerce.

(iv) UNN requires credit passes in five subjects obtained at SSCE/ NECO/ NABTEB/ GCE ‘O’ Level which must include, English language, Mathematics and any of the following subjects: Economics, History, Commerce, Financial Accounting, Typewriting, Government, Geography, Physics and Chemistry

(v) UNIBEN accepts Commerce in lieu of Economics.

(vi) BASU requires Five O’ level credits in English Language, Mathematics/Arithmetic, Economics/ Social Studies and any two subjects.

(vii) TASUED requires Five ‘O’ level credits at one sitting or six ‘O’ level credits at two sittings in English Language, Mathematics and any other three subjects in the Social Science or Arts which must include Economics.

(viii) NDU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and any three of Principles of Accounts, Commerce/Economics, Insurance, Store Keeping/Management, Word Processing, including any one of the Social Science subjects in not more than two sittings.

(ix) LASU accepts any one of Business Methods, Principles of Account, Book Keeping or Commerce.

(x) KAWASU requires five credit passes to include English, Mathematics Plus any 1 of Economics, Commerce, Financial Accounting, Typewriting plus any two other Social Science subjects.

Direct Entry Requirements For Business Education

To apply for Business Education as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) Two ‘A’ level passes or NCE with merit passes in two relevant subjects.

(ii) NCE merit level pass in Business Education (double major.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) EBSU and UNIZIK accept FTC/NSEC in Nat. Sec. Exams. Advanced level in Business Studies to include either Shorthand/Typewriting or Accounting and Commerce or Economics.

(ii) ABSU and UNIBEN accept ND (credit) in Mathematics plus UTME requirements for BENIN.

(iii) ABU, UNIUYO, ESUTECH and UNIZIK accept NCE in Business Education with at least a credit/ merit.

(iv) EBSU accepts:
(a) ND in Secretarial Education with at least lower credit from accredited Institution.
(b) National Diploma in Secretarial Studies or Accounting.
(c) Advanced WAEC/RSA in Business Studies which must include either shorthand and Typewriting or Accounting and Commerce/ Economics.
(d) Five merit/credit passes at Teachers Grade II certificate examination are also acceptable.

(v) UNIUYO and RSUST accept NCE, ND (upper credit), HND (lower credit) in relevant fields plus UTME requirements.

(vi) UNN – plus UTME requirements

(vii) RSUST accepts NCE in Bus Educ with two credits and one merit plus three other credits at O’ level, RSA pitman certificate, TC II or National Diploma in Secretarial studies.

(viii) UNIUYO accepts HND/NCE for 300 level.

(ix) UNN accepts:
a. Two ‘A’ level passes plus UTME requirements..
b. A minimum of, at least, merit level pass at NCE Business Education plus UTME requirements
c. A minimum of lower credit pass at ND Secretarial Studies/ Administration from any recognized polytechnic plus UTME requirements.
d. Full Technical Certificate / National Secretarial Examination Certificate at Advanced level in Business Studies plus UTME requirements.

(x) UNIMAID accepts NCE, ND/HND (Lower Credit) in Agricultural Science.

(xi) UNIBEN requires :
(a) 2/3 merit passes in NCE Business Education/Accounting and 3/2 ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, Economics/Commerce and English Language
(b) Joint Examination Board (JEB) London Teachers Diploma in RSA shorthand and Typing, National Secretarial Certificate, National Teachers Certificate (NTTC) in addition to Advanced Certificate in Shorthand and Typing in RSA, NSC, plus five ‘O’ level credit passes.
(c) ND (Upper credit) in Accounting, Banking and Finance, business Studies, Secretarial Studies plus 3 ‘O’ level credit passes at one sitting.

(xii) BASU accepts:
a) NCE in Business Education (Secretarial/office Practice. Accounting, Management at merit and above. ND (Bus. Mgt, Bus. Admin. Accts., Pub. Adm.) at lower credit and above.
b) Two ‘A’ level passes in any of the subjects listed under UTME requirements.
c) Pass in NCE, ND and Grade II with minimum of four (4) years teaching experience.

(xiii) BIU requires in addition to the O’ level requirements specified in the table above, a minimum of two relevant subjects passed at GCE Advanced level or NCE (3 merits) in relevant field not below credit level is required.

(xiv) TASUED accepts:
i. NCE with at least merit pass in teaching subject.
ii. ND/HND with upper credit in Business Education, Commerce, Accounting and any other related discipline.

(xv) LASU accepts in addition to O’ level requirement, two A’ level passes or NCE merit level in Business Methods, Principles of Accounting, Book Keeping, Commerce or Economics. Does not accept ND or HND.

(xvi) KWASU accepts (preference will be given to NCE holders)
a) 2 A/L passes in GCE/IJMB or equivalent, one of which must be in relevant subjects.
b) ND (Upper Credit) in office Technology and Mgt, Secretarial Studies and Accounting
c) HND (Lower Credit) in Secretarial Studies, Accounting and Marketing
d) NCE (Merit and above) in relevant field.

(xvii) NDU – Same as Vocational and Technical Education.

(xviii) BSU:
a) Preliminary degree candidates (from Benue State University, Makurdi only) must pass at least five (5) out of the six (6) subjects studied with pass level of at least 50% in each subject.
b) NCE use of English is acceptable in lieu of ‘0’ level credit pass in SSCEI NTC/NBC or GCE ‘0’ level in English Language.
c) A’ level pass in any of the acceptable subjects supersede ‘0’ level pass in the subject.

(xix) EBSU accepts HND, NCE and ND with a minimum of Merit and Upper credit respectively in the relevant fields.

(xx) UNILAG accepts;
(a) Very good passes in three JUPEB subjects; Economics, and any two (2) of Accounting, Geography, Government, Business Management.
(b) Two A/Level passes in Accounting and Business Management
(c) NCE: Merit passes in two (2) relevant subjects.
(d) NCE: Merit pass in Business Education (Double Major)
(e) Candidates must satisfy O/Level requirement
