JAMB Subject Combination For Religious Studies
In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Religious Studies under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in the institutions listed above are:
CRK/IRS and any two other subjects.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) OAU require CRK/IRS and one Art subject and an Arts or a Social Science subject.
(ii) AAUA and EKSU require Two Arts subjects and one other subject.
(iii) UNIBEN accepts ant three subjects.
(iv) SAU requires CRS, Government or History and any other Arts subjects.
O Level (WAEC and NECO) Requirements For Religious Studies
In order to study Religious Studies in the University, you will need to pass the following requirements in your O level result which can either be WAEC or NECO or even both:
Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language and CRK/IRS.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) AAUA accepts merit at TC II in English in lieu of SSCE English Language.
(ii) UNIBEN five SSCE credit passes or five Merit level passes in T.C. II at not more than two sittings. Subjects should include English Language, Religious Knowledge and two other Arts or Social Sciences subjects.
(iii) PAUL requires five SSCE credit passes in not more than two sittings (or equivalent qualification) including English Language, Mathematics and three Arts/Social Science subjects.
(iv) NDU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English, Religious Studies plus three other subjects, two of which must be Arts subjects.
(v) GO requires credit pass in Mathematics.
Direct Entry Requirements For Religious Studies
To apply for Religious Studies as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: Two ‘A’ level subjects to include Religious Studies (CRS/IRS).
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNIJOS accept 2 or 3 year National Diploma/NCE (merit).
(ii) OAU accepts two principal subjects including CRK/IRK.
(iii) IMSU – No Direct Entry.
(iv) ABSU and DELSU accept NCE/ND/HND in Religious or Social Studies or ‘A’ level in three subjects including Religion.
(v) JABU accepts five O level credit passes in relevant subjects plus ND and HND.
(vi) SAU and OAU accept NCE in Religious Studies (CRK or IRK).
(vii) UNICAL also accepts NCE in Religious Studies.
(viii) UNIBEN accepts:
a. At least two passes in Arts and Social Science subjects at the Advance level of the General Certificate in Education (GCE) in one sitting or in the Higher School Certificate (HSC) in one sittings. b. National Certificate in Education (NCE) with at least a credit level pass in Christian Studies or Islamic/Arabic studies or Religious Studies or Social Studies from a recognised College of Education. In addition, candidates should have at least an overall credit level pass.
c. At least a Merit level pass in National Diploma in Mass Communication.
(ix) UNIBEN requires any other three subjects.
(x) BSU accepts accept NCE/A level passes including in CRK, African Religion or its equivalent.
(xi) ADELEKE requires two A’ level passes to include Literature in English and other Arts subjects or NCE in English/Political Science
(xii) MCU accepts NCE candidates with Five ‘O’ level credit passes and requires merit pass in religious studies).
(xiii) UI accepts NCE with at least Merit in Religious Studies.
(xiv) NDU accepts:
a. A minimum of 2 GCE (A/Level) passes, one of which must be any one of the following subjects: English Language, CRK, Government/any Nigeria Language/any Arts subject.
b. The National Certificate in Education (NCE) provided there is merit in Christian Religious Studies, or Islamic Religious Studies.
