JAMB Subject Combination For Dentistry and Dental Surgery
In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Dentistry and Dental Surgery under the Faculty of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences in the institutions listed above are:
Chemistry, Biology and one Science subject.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNIJOS, UNICAL, UNIPORT, UNN, UNIBEN, UNILAG and OAU require Physics as the other science subject.
O Level (WAEC and NECO) Requirements For Dentistry and Dental Surgery
In order to study Dentistry and Dental Surgery in the University, you will need to pass the following requirements in your O level result which can either be WAEC or NECO or even both:
Five SSCE credit passes in English language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNN requires candidates in addition to minimum entry requirements the entrance candidates are expected to have credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics in SSCE at the O’ level in not more than one sitting.
Direct Entry Requirements For Dentistry and Dental Surgery
To apply for Dentistry and Dental Surgery as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: Three ‘A’ level passes include Chemistry, Biology/Zoology and Physics.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNN requires:
a) Direct entry candidates in addition to satisfying the UTME requirements should also have 3 Advanced Level papers in Biology or Zoology, Chemistry and Physics in London GCE in one sitting.
b) The Faculty accepts B.Sc degree in related field of study for admission into the Five year standard programme.
c) Holders of MBBS may be admitted into the three year clinical course in Dentistry.
(ii) DELSU accepts B.Sc. Degree First Class/Second Class Upper in Medical related fields. Also accepts Three ‘A’ level papers.
(iii) UNIPORT – No Direct Entry.
(iv) UNIBEN accepts B.Sc Biochemistry (Second Class Lower) Microbiology, Zoology, Botany, Anatomy, Physiology, Nursing, B.Sc or OD Optometry, B.Pham or Doctor of Pharmacy.
(v) OAU accepts B.Sc. with minimum of Second Class Honours in relevant discipline (Sciences).
(vi) UNIJOS accepts passes in IJMB, GCE Advanced Level or Higher School Certificate (HSC) all in Physics, Chemistry and Zoology or Biology. Such candidates must also have obtained five credits at Ordinary level in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Zoology, English Language and Mathematics.
(vii) UNILAG accepts:
a) B.Sc. Degree First Class/Second Class Upper in Medical related fields or two ‘A’ level passes to include Chemistry, Biology/Zoology or Physics.
b) very good passes in three JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and also accept B.Sc. Degree First Class/Second Class Upper in fields such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry Physiotherapy, Ophthalmology, Pharmacology, Radiography, Microbiology, Pharmacy, Zoology, Cell Biology and Genetics, Medical Lab. Science, Nursing.
