JAMB Subject Combination For Urban and Regional Planning

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Urban and Regional Planning under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Technology in the institutions listed above are:

Mathematics, Geography and one of Economics, Physics, Chemistry

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) OAU requires Economics in addition to Mathematics.

(ii) LAUTECH accepts Geography and two of Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Government, Biology and Agric Science.

(iii) FUTA requires Mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics and Geography.

(iv) MAUTECH accepts Technical Drawing

(v) UNILAG also accepts Biology.

(vi) JABU requires five credit passes at English Language, Mathematics, Geography and any other two subjects plus ND at Upper Credit level.

(vii) UNN requires mathematics and any two subjects from Economics, Government, Geography, Fine arts, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Agric Sciences.

(viii) CRESCENT requires Mathematics, Physics and any of Chemistry/ Biology/ Geography.

(ix) UNIJOS accepts any one of Physics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Economics and Biology as the third subject.

(x) UNIOSUN requires Mathematics and any two subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Economics and Geography.

(xi) FUTO requires Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

(xii) OOU accepts Mathematics or Geography

O Level (WAEC and NECO) Requirements For Urban and Regional Planning

In order to study Urban and Regional Planning in the University, you will need to pass the following requirements in your O level result which can either be WAEC or NECO or even both:
Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Geography, and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Government, Biology, Art, History, IRK/CRK, Social Studies and Tech Drawing.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) FUTA requires five credits at not more than two sittings in SSCE, WASSCE, NECO, or its equivalent in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Geography and any two subjects from Chemistry, Biology/Agric. Science, Economics, and Technical Drawing. The prospective candidate must have at least a pass in Physics.

(ii) ABU requires five ‘0’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and Geography and any other two from Economics, Technical Drawing, Fines Arts, Chemistry and Biology.

(iii) MAUTECH requires Five `O’ level credits in English Mathematics, Geography and any other two (one from Physics/ Chemistry/Biology/Agric Science) and (one other from Economics/Social Sciences/Tech. Drawing/ Creative Arts).

(iv) OAU accepts Economics in lieu of Geography, but does not accept Govt., IRS, CRK and Social Studies.

(v) RSUST, IMSU and ESUTECH do not accept IRK, CRK, History and Social Studies.

(vi) LAUTECH accepts Agricultural Science as sciences.

(vii) ABSU does not insist on Geography.

(vii) UNN requires 5 credit level passes at SSC to include English Language, Mathematics, and any other three subjects from Economics, Government, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing, Physics, Chemistry, Agric Science, and Biology.

(ix) UNILAG requires credit passes from Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Economics and Technical Drawing as the fourth and fifth subjects.

(xi ABSU requires a credit pass in Economics as UTME requirements.

(xi) ESUTECH accepts credit passes in Fine Arts and Surveying

(xii) UNIUYO requires a credit pass in Mathematics.

(xiii) RENAISSANCE requires five SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography/Tech. Drawing at not more than two sittings.

(xiv) BELLS requires five SSCE Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Geography and any two from Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing.

(xv) RSUST and UNIOSUN require two subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Economic, Biology and Surveying. RSUST accepts credit pass in Government.

(xvi) FUTMINAA and ABSU require five credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Geography and any two subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing, Economics and Government.

(xvii) CRESCENT requires two other subjects from Sciences and Social Sciences.

(xviii) UNIJOS requires two other credit passes from Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Biology, Fine Art and Technical Drawing.

(xix) FUTO requires at least five ‘O’ Level credits in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, English Language, and any other from Geography, Biology, Economics, Technical Drawing.

Direct Entry Requirements For Urban and Regional Planning

To apply for Urban and Regional Planning as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) Two A/L passes in Geography and Mathematics

(ii) ND/HND (upper Credit) in Town Planning or related discipline plus UTME requirements are accepted.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) MAUTECH accepts at least an `A’ level pass with ND in Urban Design and Architecture

(ii) OAU accepts 3 ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics, Geography and one other subject from Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Tech. Drawing/Fine Art.

(iii) FUTA accepts
(a) Advanced level passes in at least two of the following Mathematics, Geography, Economics, Physics and Chemistry; and
(b) National Diploma (ND) at upper credit in Town Planning and related subjects.

(iv) UNN accepts
(a) ND in Town Planning or its equivalent with Upper credit level passes plus UTME requirement.
(b) GCE Advanced Level passes in Mathematics, and two subjects from the following: Geography, Economics, Government, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in addition to UNN UTME requirements.

(v) RSUST, BAUCHI and MINNA accept ND/HND (Upper/Lower credit) in addition to UTME requirements.

(vi) OAU accepts ND/HND (upper credit) in Town Planning or related discipline. ABU accepts ND lower credit plus UTME requirements

(vii) ABU requires:
a. ‘A’ level /IJMB passes in Geography and one of the following: Economics, Mathematics.
b. ND at Upper Credit level in Urban and Regional Planning or related Environmental Sciences from accredited institution.
c. HND in URP or related Environmental Sciences at Lower credit level.

(viii) LAUTECH accepts GCE ‘A’ Level Passes /ND with Upper Credit/ HND in related discipline (plus UTME requirements) may be considered for admission into 200 level.

(ix) JABU accepts five O level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Geography and any other two subjects plus ND at Upper credit level.

(x) UNIOSUN Candidates with the following qualifications may be admitted into Part II of the programme. Holders of five ‘O’ level credit pass in SSCE. Additional requirement include any of the following in addition:
a. A level passes at one sitting in Mathematics and Geography and any of the following: Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Technical Drawing, Economics and Fine Arts.
b. National Diploma (ND) at lower credit in Town Planning, Survey and Urban and regional Planning.

(xi) BELLS accepts
(a) Two A’ Level passes from Mathematics, Geography, Biology/Physics.
(b) ND/HND (Upper Credit respectively) Town Planning or related disciplines plus UTME requirements.

(xii) ABSU accepts holders of ND in Town Planning Architecture, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Surveying and Estate Management.

(xiii) CRESCENT accepts (i) ‘A’ Level and IJMB in relevant subjects at acceptable grades. (ii) ND or HND in Urban and Regional Planning or Allied fields with at least lower credit may be admitted to the appropriate level.

(xiv) KUST accepts:
1. Two A/L passes in Geography and Mathematics
2. 8 points at IJMBE in Geography, Mathematics, and any of Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Biology.
3. ND (Upper Credit) in Town Planning or related discipline.

(xv) UNIJOS accepts:
a) Holders of National Diploma (ND) in Town Planning, Land Surveying Building, Architecture, Estate Management, and Quantity Survey.
b) At least two (2) passes at the GCE ‘A’ level, HSC or IJMB, one of which must be Geography.

(xvi) FUTO
a. requires At least three `A` Level passes not below Grade C in Mathematics, Geography, and one of Physics or Chemistry.
b. Accepts at least Upper Credit ND/HND in relevant fields plus UTME `O` Level requirements.

(xvii) UNILAGOS accepts;
(a) Very good passes in JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Mathematics, Geography and any one (1) of Chemistry, Physics, Biology or Economics
(b) HND/ND (Distinction) in Urban and Regional Planning into 300/200 level.
