WAEC And NECO Subject Requirements for Political Science
The subjects required to study Political Science in both WAEC and NECO are as follows:
Five SSCE credit passes in Government or History, English Language and three other subjects. At least a pass in Mathematics is required
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) ABUAD, GO, OOU, DELSU, UNICAL, OAU, LASU, and EKSU require credit pass in Mathematics. EKSU also requires another Social Science subject apart from Government.
(ii) OAU and UNICAL require credit pass in Government.
(iii) UI requires 5 ‘O’ level credits in Government/History,English. Language and three other subjects plus at least a pass in Mathematics.
(iv) UNICAL requires two Social Science subjects including Government. It does not accept History in lieu of Government.
(v) DELSU and UNN require credit pass in Government and any 2 other subjects plus at least a pass in Mathematics. Does not accept History in lieu of Government.
(vi) EBSU requires credit pass Mathematics and two other subject.
(vii) AAUA accepts National Diploma in related Discipline at Upper Credit level.
(viii) JABU accepts a pass in Mathematics.
(ix) COVENANT same as Marketing.
(x) ABU requires five O/level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Government or History, and any other two Social Sciences or Arts Subject.
(xi) KASU requires a credit in Mathematics.
(xii) ABSU requires Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Government or History and any three subjects from Arts, Social Science subject and at least a pass in Mathematics
(xiii) REDEEMER’S requires Five ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Government or History and two other subjects.
(xiv) KWASU accepts credit passes in English, Mathematics, Government/History and two other social science subjects or one Arts and 1 social science subject.
(xv) UNILAG requires five credit passes to include English Language, mathematics, Government plus two other subjects from Economics, Geography, History, Literature in English, CRS/IRS.
(xvi) UMYUK requires five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics, Government or History and any other two credits in Arts/Social Science subjects in not more than two sittings.
(xvii) KSU – Credit pass in Mathematics is required.
(xviii) FED-LAFIA – Same as in Sociology.
(xix) BOWEN requires five credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Government and one social science subjects.
(xx) ESUTECH requires five credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Government and two social science subjects.
(xxi) EDWIN CLARK requires five credit passes to include English Language, Economics, Government and any other two subjects plus at least a pass in Mathematics.
