WAEC And NECO Subject Requirements for Mathematics
The subjects required to study Mathematics in both WAEC and NECO are as follows:
Five SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) ANSU, UNIMAID and UNIZIK accept a pass in English Language.
(ii) UNILORIN accepts Biology, Mathematics and Physics.
(iii) UNIZIK accepts Economics in lieu of Physics/Chemistry.
(iv) FUTO requires at least five ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and any other Science subject in not more than two sittings.
(v) DELSU accepts Maths and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Further Mathematics.
(vi) CRUTECH, KWARARAFA and BOWEN accept Mathematics, Physics and two other Science subjects.
(vii) AAUA and EKSU require a pass in Chemistry
(viii) IMSU and ABSU require Physics IMSU accepts a pass in English Language.
(ix) OAU accepts English Language, Mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Add. Mathematics.
(x) UNIOSUN, UNIBEN, IGBINEDION, BSU and IMSU accept English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and any other relevant science subject.
(xi) NDU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and any other Science subjects
(xii) UNIBADAN requires 5 ‘O’ level credits passes including English Language, Mathematics and any two/three of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Further Mathematics or Geography and other subject as the 6th subject.
(xiii) UNIBEN requires Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and one of Biology, Agric. Science, Economics or Geography (for Mathematics). (for Industrial Mathematics) – requires five O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any three Geography.
(xiv) UNIUYO requires Credit passes in Mathematics and Physics.
(xv) UNIPORT requires credit passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(xvi) CRESCENT requires either Physics or Chemistry in addition to Mathematics and also IJMB at acceptable grade levels.
(xvii) UMYU requires five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and any of Biology/Agricultural Science or Geography in not more than two sittings
(xviii) BELLS requires English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and one Science subject.
(xix) BOWEN does not allow a combination of Biology and Agric. Science but accepts Mathematics and any other two Science subjects.
(xx) WUSTO accepts:
a) Two “A” level passes in Mathematics and either Physics and/or Chemistry.
b) Upper Credit passes in ND in addition to 5 Credits at WASC/GCE O’L / SSCE (or its equivalent).
(xxi) UNAAB requires five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.
(xxii) ABU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and three other subjects two of which must be in Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Geography.
(xxiii) KASU requires Physics and does not accept Economics and Agric. Science.
(xxiv) NTNU accepts English, Mathematics and any other three Science subjects.
(xxv) ABSU requires five SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry and any two subjects.
(xxvi) GO requires five SSCE credit passes in not more than two sittings in subjects which include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology.
(xxvii) UNILAG requires credit passes in English, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and any one (1) of Chemistry, Economics and Geography.
(xxviii) MOUA requires five SSCE credit passes in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and any other relevant Science subject.
(xxix) PLASU and UNIOSUN require five ‘O’ Level credits in the SSCE including English Language, Mathematics, Physics to form the core subjects, with credit in two other relevant science subjects at not more than two sittings
(xxx) BAYERO does not accept Economics.
(xxxi) PAUL requires SSCE credit passes in not more than two sittings including English Language, mathematics, Physics or Chemistry or Biology.
(xxxii) FUPRE requires five SSCE credit passes including Mathematics, Physics, English Language plus two other Science subjects from Further Mathematics, Chemistry Science. At least a pass in Chemistry and Biology is mandatory.
(xxxiii) LASU requires five SSCE credit passes in Mathematics English Language, Physics, Chemistry and any one of Biology, Economics or Geography.
(xxxiv) OSUSTECH requires five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, plus at least two from Chemistry, Biology and Further Mathematics.
(xxxv) KWASU requires credit passes from English Language, Mathematics and any three of Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics and Agricultural Science.
(xxxvi) TASU accepts credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and at least two of Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Economics, Geography and Further Mathematics.
(xxxvii) EVANGEL accepts credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and at least any three subjects in the following order: Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Agricultural Science.
(xxxviii) OSUSTECH requires credit passes in Physics, plus at least two from Chemistry, Biology and Further Mathematics.
(xxxix) ADELEKE requires credit passes from English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science.
(xl) NDA requires five O’ level credit passes from English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two from Chemistry, Additional/Further Mathematics, Biology and Geography.
(xli) FED-LAFIA requires five credit passes at SSCE including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(xlii) FED-LOKOJA accepts five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Agricultural Science.
(xliii) FUTA requires five SSCE credit passes including English Language Physics and two other Science subjects.
(xliv) SOUTHWESTERN requires five SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and at least three subjects from Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics and Geography.
(xlv) UNIABUJA accepts five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) including English, Mathematics and any other three subjects preferably Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and Geography in that order
