WAEC And NECO Subject Requirements for Mass Communication
The subjects required to study Mass Communication in both WAEC and NECO are as follows:
Five SSCE credit passes in English Language and 4 other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNIZIK and BSU require five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language and at least a pass in Mathematics
(ii) KWASU requires five O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Government and Literature-in-English.
(iii) OOU, LASU and REDEEMER’S require Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Lit-in-English and two additional subjects in Arts and Social Sciences.
(iv) IMSU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Lit-in-English and at least a pass in Mathematics
(v) UNIZIK requires a credit pass in Lit-in-English
(vi) CRESCENT requires credit pass in Lit-in-English, History/Government, Economics
(vii) EBSU requires credit in Literature in English, English Language and Mathematics and a pass in a Nigerian Language will be an advantage.
(viii) GO and BIU require credit pass in Mathematics.
(ix) UNIILORIN accepts National Diploma at Upper Credit level in Mass Communication. Also does not accepts ‘A’ passes
(x) ABU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Economics/Commerce, Government/History, Literature in English/CRK/IRK and any Nigerian Language with at least a pass in Mathematics.
(xi) BOWEN requires five SSCE Credit Passes to include English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics and any other subjects in arts and social sciences
(xii) WESTERN-DEL accepts five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Literature in English, Government and any other social sciences subject.
(xii) JABU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Literature in English and at least a minimum of a pass in Mathematics
(xiv) AUE requires Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC) with credit passes in at least six (6) subjects, including English Language, English Literature and Mathematics obtained at not more than two sittings.
(xv) DELSU requires credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and two other subjects from Economics, Government, Geography, Commerce and Government.
(xvi) UNILAG requires Five O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Literature-in-English and two other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences and related disciplines.
(xvii) KSU requires five credit passes at SSCE and/or GCE O/L in English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics and any other two Arts and or Social Science subjects.
(xviii) CRESCENT – Credit pass in Literature in English will be an added advantage.
(xix) SOUTHWESTERN requires credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and Government plus at least a pass in Mathematics.
The O level (WAEC and NECO) requirements posted above may only apply to Mass Communication under the faculty of Social and Management Sciences.
