WAEC And NECO Subject Requirements for Geography

The subjects required to study Geography in both WAEC and NECO are as follows:

Five SSCE credit passes to include English language, Mathematics, Geography and any other two science subjects.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) OOU requires two other Science subjects.

(ii) UNIBADAN requires 5 or 6 ‘O’ level credit passes at one or two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Geography, and any two other Science subjects.

(iii) GOMSU accepts Economics.

(iv) UMYU Science Option-Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics, Geography, and any two of Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Agricultural Science. Humanities Option- Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics, Geography, and any two of Government, Economics, Commerce and Accounting.

(v) ABU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English language, Mathematics, Geography, Biology and any other science subjects.

(vi) UNN requires five o’ level credit passes including English Language, Geography and any three from Arts or Social Science subjects and at least a pass in Mathematics.

(vii) KASU only accept among Chemistry, Biology or Physics as the other two Science subjects.

(viii) ABSU requires Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any three subjects from Arts, Social Science and Sciences. A credit pass in Geography is compulsory.

(ix) FUTMINNA accepts requires credit pass in Physics and any other science subject.

(x) GODFREY requires two other subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.

The O level (WAEC and NECO)  requirements posted above may only apply to Geography under the faculty of Sciences. If the Geography you intend in studying is in another faculty, the subject requirements may be different from the one on this page. You can check JAMB brochure for all faculties here.
